The Big Sister Project ; Charity Program

I've been eager to write about this small project which i still remember very clearly that one day, after a Butterfly Project event, Tammy, Anis and i decided to go for early dinner. And out of our random conversations, it came up this. I can believe that from a small sharing session ended up to become a reality! Since Tammy was really packed with her schedule throughout the year, she appointed me as the head of the project which i thought i couldnt manage. But with lots of hard work with the team, we made this day happen, thanks to FoodPanda and UBER who contributed a big part of the project.

Just a brief idea on what is the Big Sister Project is all about, its basically The Butterfly's Project first ever charity program which we decided that as bloggers, we have a part to offer to the community. With bloggers being called as influencers, its really important that we show a good example to our readers too right? What makes this project special is that instead of buying gifts and giving gifts that are unwanted to a chosen orphanage, the idea was to bring the kids out to let them pick out their own gift, since chances like these for them are very minimal. And as bloggers, we are like big sisters (and brothers) to them of showing a good example. And guess which lucky orphanage got chosen? Rumah Chrestus, which has about 20 kids in a small corner hourse in Cheras.

A big thanks to UBER for sponsoring the kids a return ride to and from One Utama. It was a really long journey for them since they're coming all the way from Cheras to Damansara Utama. Thats about 40 minutes drive man! It was definitely a different experience for them since they're getting proper professional drivers to transport them from one place to another. One of the UBER drivers were driving a Mercedes which also got the kids really excited too! hehe. As they arrived, each kid was given a name tag so that the 'big sisters' would know who they are in charge of.

The kids behaved really well and i can tell from their faces that they were really excited on getting themselves toys for christmas! Shireen was really cute for teasing them by saying that they were only allowed to look at the toys, and that they wont get to bring the toys back home. HAHA. Silly Shireen! We had a small ice breaking session with the kids and the bloggers, and each blogger were assigned to a child to be responsible of.

Some were really shy at first and the youngest among the group was about only 4 years old and the oldest was about 17 years old. But either way, knowing that bloggers are good at breaking the ice, i assume that the kids could really get along with their assigned 'big sister' and 'big brother' so that we can proceed with the program.

FoodPanda was so generous to spend RM200 per child as their christmas presents and each child could actually pick as much presents as they want accumulating up to RM200. I managed to take a few shots of the kids, and i think it was really therapeutic to see the smiles of the kids getting the presents and toys that they want.

To the people who made it happen, Foodpanda has played a huge part in giving back to the kids to end their 2015. Not only that they sponsored RM200 per child, but also sponsored over 40 attendees to eat at TGIF too! On a side note, Hamleys even threw it extra gifts for the kids where the boys got a toy car and the girls got a barbie doll to play with. How sweet were they? Thank you so much Hamleys!

Food Panda has a little surprise! 

If you think it ends there, FoodPanda even had more surprises for the little kids by giving them plush panda's! hehe. Even i got one for myself too, and its just too adorable! Some of the kids got to dine for free thanks to the manager of TGIF for informing us that kids under 12 could eat for free. And the rest got to decide on what they wanted to eat.

I believe that almost all of us mutually felt really good about the way we ended the year by spending some time with the very special kids who got a treat to end the year with presents to bring back home. I would like to personally again thank Food Panda, UBER Malaysia, TGIF, Hamleys and the volunteers for making their time to make this project happen. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! As head of the project, i think i learned a lot about hunting for the right orphanage.

As im turning a year older this year, I realize that my body doesn’t feel as young as it used to felt. Whatever I consume felt like it was affecting how my body works, and that’s when I needed to find a solution to fix that problem. I introduced to USANA to reset my body by Chantel Liew, as a detox supplement. USANA is actually an alternative way to detox your body by removing the acids and unwanted chemicals from your body by going through a 5 day program with meal replacers. So let me bring you through my 5 day journey!

Personally at first, it felt like a tough journey to be skipping most of the meals that I like eating most, which includes chicken, beef, fish, rice and more as I was only allowed to consume fruits or vegetables as snacks during the 5 day period. But just because I felt like my body was crying for help, I decided to sacrifice the yummy meals by taking up the challenge to cleanse my body.  I was given 2 packs of nutrimeals, and a pack of fibergy plus which I will further explain it as we go through my post.

Each nutrimeal pack comes with a free scooper.

The procedure is pretty simple! The nutrimeal is a low glycemic meal replacement drink for a healthy weight management. Containing all the ingredients that you need in a day, you are not required to eat anything else for the next 5 days, unless you want to gain weight.

3 scoops per meal.

Each pack of nutrimeal comes with a convenient scooper for you to accurately scoop the right amount of the powder. Each serving of nutrimeal needs 3 scoops per serving and all you need to do would be to add water to complete your meal. I was told that a pack of the nutrimeal would easily last you up to 9 servings.

The amount of water can be to your liking if you dont like it to be too thick.

Its generally up to you if you would want to use warm water, or room temperature water. But in my case,  I naturally prefer to add room temperature water first then add ice into it cause I prefer drinking cold water. Hehe. If you want something different, you can also blend the mix with fruits in a blender or maybe consume it with muesli or oats too! But since I was lacking on time, I decided to go the old fashion way by drinking it.

Tadaa, my dutch chocolate nutrimeal

For breakfast, I took the Dutch chocolate Nutrimeal each morning and for lunch, I took the French Vanilla for 5 days continuously. For dinner, I occasionally took either Nutrimeal flavors, but I went for fruit and salad’s instead since I didn’t feel hungry. Taste wise between the Dutch chocolate and the French Vanilla, I preferred the French Vanilla flavor cause its easier to swallow compared to the Dutch chocolate.  Dutch chocolate wasn’t bad, but to my taste buds, it tasted like melted chocolate ice-cream with a very rich texture.

Fibergy Plus

Just add 1 spoon to every nutrimeal.

Not to forget the Fibergy Plus, it’s a low calorie flavorless fiber blend that can be added to juice or USANA’s nutrimeal which contains 10 grams of dietary fiber per serving (1 spoon). I only managed to try this for only 3 days out of the 5 on alternative days. Its not exactly to my liking cause it makes the drink taste thicker, and I don’t usually take in odd taste really well, it was slightly tough to get it through my throat. But on a plus side, it helps you to poop better in the toilet. hehe

Since it claims that the 5 day reset program will be able to lose weights, curb huggers and also breaking poor nutritional habits, I can actually say that its true! After completing my 5 day reset program, I realized that some food that I usually like tasted saltier than usual, and soft drinks are just too sweet for me to take in. My body felt extremely lighter after the 5 days and I even lost an extra 1.5kg! It definitely makes your body feel great and younger by removing the toxins away.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN WITHIN THE 5 DAYS

It would be a struggle to adjust to the new diet on the first 2 days. On the 3^rd day, you will start feeling slightly bloated and you may experience like you need to poop (which is a good thing since its removing all the dirt from your body). On the 4^th and 5^th day, I felt that my tummy went flatter, and felt less bloated than before. And after the 5 days, you will realize that your taste buds definitely changed to prefer a more healthier option in food.

TIPS FOR THE 5 DAYS RESET

I highly recommend you to drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water everyday when going through the 5 day program since the meal replacers would work better when you drink more water. Try not to do strenuous exercise or heavy athletic workouts since youre not on a protein diet, it may make you feel even more tired instead. And be sure to walk at least 20-30 minutes a day to make sure your body absorbs the nutrimeal.

OPTIONAL PROFLAVANOL

I also received a tube of Proflavanol which provides powerful antioxidant combination of high quality grape seed bioflavonoids and a proprietary vitamin C content. This is a great detox supplement which I consume 2 pills for breakfast and 2 pill for dinner.

And there you have it! I can proudly say I lost at least 1.5kg during the 5 day program and on top of that, I felt so much more lighter which was initially my reason of taking this program. The experience was fun and challenging if you asked me, but if youre thinking to start fresh, USANA is a great supplement for you to think about. I am currently exercising more than usual since my body feels so much lighter, and im looking at a fitter year this year. So all the best to mua.

Three Most Inspiring Scar Stories ; BIO-OIL

Remember my blog post where i was writing about My Scar My Story with Bio-Oil? If you do, well here is an update! The results were out and it was a two month long campaign which has finally reached to an end. The campaign ended on December 31st, 2015 and the three most inspiring stories picked were from Caroline Yap, Hajarul Falenna and Arisa Chow, where each of them had a unique story to share that serves as an inspiration to others.

Caroline Yap, 41

She obtained slash wounds and survived 29 stitches from a snatch theft incident but that incident has inspired he to take a different perspective in life as to appreciate the little things in life, set her priorities differently and most importantly live for the moment.

Hajarul Falenna, 26

Got her scar from a surgery she underwent for scoliosis which reminded her of the sufferings she went through but it has also changed her life for the better, as her posture now corrected.


Arisa Chow, 22 

Has multiple scars on her body, shared how she underwent depression which led her to self-inflicted injuries and how she overcame her scarring problems.

Each of these three winners received a Luxury Retreat Package at a 5 star resort for two. Congratulations to the winners for sharing such an inspiring story. The microsite, www.myscarmystory.com.my, received more than 53,000 unique visitors and 77,000 page views. Though the campaign has ended, Bio-Oil will still be maintaining its microsite until the end of March with the hope of inspiring more women with the stories. Every scar has a story that reminds us of life’s episodes but more importantly it also makes us stronger.
