NakNak Turns Up the Heat with the Bold Bulgogi Series – Plus Curly Fries & a Dreamy Pistachio Shake

If there’s one thing NakNak always gets right, it’s making every bite count. And now, Malaysia’s favourite homegrown Korean-inspired QSR is taking things up a notch with their Bold Bulgogi Series, think juicy burgers, comeback curly fries, and a pistachio shake so creamy you’ll want to hug it.
Meet the Bold Bulgogi Burgers

For a limited time only, NakNak is serving two mouthwatering burgers that basically taste like a holiday in Seoul.

Grilled Beef Bulgogi Burger (from RM23.90), Juicy beef patties stacked with crisp lettuce, red onions, creamy bulgogi mayo, and a glorious drizzle of NakNak’s sweet-savoury bulgogi sauce, all hugged by a fluffy bun.

Crispy Fried Chicken Bulgogi Burger (from RM19.90), Same bold toppings, but with a golden-crunch chicken fillet for extra “ooooh” in every bite.

Both are loaded, messy (in the best way), and unapologetically flavour-packed, just how NakNak likes it.
Curly Fries Make Their Glorious Comeback

You asked. They listened. NakNak’s iconic curly fries are finally back, and better. Choose from:

Original Golden (from RM12.50), classic, crispy perfection.

Seaweed (from RM14.90), your go-to curly fries, but with a sprinkle of umami magic.

Warning: these disappear fast… from the table and the menu.
The Pistachio Shake You’ll Daydream About

New to the regular menu (yes, it’s here to stay!) is NakNak’s Pistachio Shake (from RM19.90). Made with 100% pure pistachio paste, it’s thick, nutty, creamy, and straight-up dessert goals, especially if you’re a fan of Korean café drinks.

📅 Available now across all NakNak outlets for dine-in and takeaway. Limited-time burgers & curly fries, forever-worthy pistachio shake.
Because at NakNak, flavour isn’t just on the plate – it’s an experience.

Ferria KL | Hidden Luxe Rainforest RestoGrill in the Heart of KL

When it comes to the end of the week, i decided to catch up with my bestie Miriam to this luxe rainforest restogrill. I heard that their chefs specialise in charcoal grilling and modern methods that would you leave with an impression of casual but luxe dining. Ferria at Jalan Bukit Bintang Kuala Lumpur (Opposite Pavilion) aims to offer fellow KL-ites the greatest grill bar that they have to offer. So today, let me take you on a virtual food review on my thoughts of what we had while we were at Ferria - Kuala Lumpur's brand-new grill and bar restaurant, that has just opened its doors in the centre of the city.

The restaurant's opulent jungle theme improves the gastronomic and sensory experience. In addition to enjoying premium cocktails at the outdoor bar, you can also choose to dine in and explore their extensive menu to indulge into. If you're not in the mood to drink alcohol, don’t worry as they also have interesting mocktail options as well. I had the Copenhagen Sparkling Tea which was an interesting blend of Jasmin, White Tea and Darjeeling while my date had their in-house champagne.

Now, let’s get into the mains that you'll have to try when you visit. Just a little reminder for those planning to visit, Ferria offers KL-ites with the best grill bar, Ferria chefs specialise in charcoal grilling and use cutting-edge methods. With that being said, it's definitely a must to explore their gastronomic menu to get a taste of the real Ferria dining experience. While I was there, we had a decent spread of appetizers, mains and some to-share bites.

Starting off with the appetizers, we had the Watermelon Poppers and the Lambazon Skewers which was one of the best combination to tease our taste buds. I started off with the Watermelon Poppers and my comments on it was that it was really refreshing. With citrus tinge and herbs, it’s definitely a great conversation starter if you’re on a date. The Lamazon Skewer actually looks like satay, but what surprised me was that it was really tender. The lamb literally just melts in your mouth and the spices that it’s marinated in gave just the right kick to enjoy it’s savoury flavour.

As our mains for the day, I had the XL Freshwater Prawn roll which came with a big freshwater prawn, crispy French beans, and a soft homemade milk brioche, was a delectable main dish. Not going to lie, what I enjoyed the most about this dish was that it had flavours of fresh prawn! It's like you can still taste the flavour of the sea, combined with its homemade milk brioche, for the crispy French beans it was ultimate perfection of flavours in your mouth when paired with Wasabi Mayo.

My date on the other hand had the Tarzan Arrabiata just to explore the flavours of the wild side (pun intended). This dish would be enjoyed by those who adore spices! The dish is served with tiger prawns, soft shell crab and chilean mussels which tasted really fresh. I’m very particular on seafood, so when I say its fresh, it is served out from the freshest that they have to offer. If you enjoy your seafood to be accompanied by pasta, this dish is definitely worth ordering.

And going into some to-share dishes, we had the Tripple Cooked Hand Cut Fries which was a nice touch in sea salt flavours. At first I found it slightly salty, but after all, its sea salt. It’s a great to share that you and your company can savour on over conversations. The fries had a unique twist in each bite especially when paired with their wasabi mayo that came with it. Overall, I would say it was flavourful and fries were really different than your regular fast-food joint.

All in all, I would say that it’s a great location to dine & chill while catching up with friends over a nice cup of cocktails and mocktails in an amazon ambiance that lets you sit back and relax in the heart of the city. I honestly can’t wait to catch up with friends and come back to try out other dishes that they have on the menu. If you asked for a verdict, I would say that it’s a great location to de-stress in a jungle themed environment to let yourself loose from any tension from a hard day of work. Will I be going back again? It's definitely a yes. Can’t wait for my next visit! I hope you found this post informative and feel free to ask me any questions in the comment box below. Till my next post xx

Mamee Monster is a crunchy noodle snack that made its debut in 1974 after Datuk Pang’s eldest son, MAMEE-Double Decker Executive ChairmanTan Sri Pang Tee Chew picked up on something while driving through the estates in Alor Gajah, Malacca–he noticed the rubber tappers were eating uncooked instant noodles straight from the pack. This led thePang father-son duo to steer their noodle production in a new direction. If you're ready to embark on another delicious food trip as Malaysia’s most popular and largest homegrown Halal Quick Service Restaurant, Marrybrown is now serving you their latest Around the World journey! This month, they are featuring Korea as their unique destination for your tastebuds. Available nationwide at all Marrybrown outlets where Malaysians can say annyeong to Marrybrown’s K-Crunch menu - a flavourful Korean-inspired meal that will leave your tastebuds with a fiery yet sweet surprise.

If you noticed, Marrybrown has always dedicated its R&D to being filled with quality food to their Memang Best fans. Marrybrown has continuously upheld its mission of offering “something different” and delicious that cater to the tastebuds of Malaysians. This October, Marrybrown is pleased to present an exciting menu of their famous succulent crispy chicken coated with tantalizingly sweet and spicy Gangjeong sauce. Fans can expect nothing less than top-tier quality meals on top of experiencing the excitement of K-culture when indulging in Marrybrown’s K-Crunch menu!

“Modern Korean culture has steadily gained momentum in Malaysia. From this wave, Malaysians have found their way of creating their own K-pop-related moments. Similar to how Malaysians love integrating Korean culture into their own, at Marrybrown, we’re also embracing the Hallyu wave in our food with our own Malaysian twist to make it extra inviting,” said Dato’ Joshua Liew, Chief Executive Officer of Marrybrown.

Like Korea’s electrifying pop culture, the K-Crunch offers the finest quality of ingredients that encapsulates the Korean taste. Fans can now be transported to the heart of Seoul with just a bite of the crispy 2-pc K-Crunch Chicken combo accompanied by their well-seasoned french fries, and their special K-Fizz drink infused with refreshing flavors of yuzu and passion fruit, priced from RM20.90. For those looking for that comforting taste of a good burger, sink your teeth into the warm toasty bun of K-Crunch’s Chicken Burger combo served with a side of french fries and a K-Fizz drink priced from RM16.90.

Alternatively, if you’re yearning for something hearty, the Kimchi Rice Bowl combo priced from RM13.10 is the way to go thanks to the addictive K-Crunch sauce. If you can’t decide and are eager to have a bit of everything, the K-Crunch Box Meal is the ideal choice! Priced from RM26.50, Malaysians can indulge in the K-Crunch Chicken Burger, 1-pc K-Crunch Chicken, 2-pc Chicken Dumpling, French Fries and a cup of K-Fizz to quench your thirst. Fans can also add on the K-Crunch Chicken Dumpling and Cheesy Sausage priced from RM7.90 for a more wholesome meal.

Here I ordered the K-Crunch Box Meal and the Kimchi Rice Bowl and I can't lie that it's a pretty good combo. By ordering these two sets, you would get a taste of everything that the menu has to offer. A little personal opinion, I would say that I enjoyed the K-Crunch chicken a lot because it's coated with the special sauce accompanied with white sesame seeds. It gives out a pleasant kick of spiciness followed by sweetness to tone down the heat which makes it great for Malaysian tastebuds.  Easy said, it has this Korean version of our Nasi Lemak Sambal.

Peranakan & BBQ Buffet Dinner at Ames Hotel | FOOD REVIEW

Hi guys! I had the opportunity to dine in at Peranakan & BBQ Buffet Dinner while I was staying at Ames Hotel in Melaka recently. If you happen to be traveling to Melaka, and you’d want to explore the safari and nature tourism that Melaka has to offer, then Ames Hotel is a good hotel to stay in. But enough about that, this post is going to be all about FOOD! Because there are so many flavors that I’d like to remember.

The Peranakan & BBQ Buffet Dinner at their in-house restaurant, the munch, in Ames Hotel is a seasonal dinner buffet that will be available from 30th September 2022 to 22nd October 2022. But take note that it's only available every Friday and Saturday from 6.30pm to 10.00pm. It’s priced at RM98 net per adult and RM60 net for children and senior citizens.

Hot & Spicy Soup

ABC Soup

Led by Executive Chef Ramu Suppiah and his team of chefs, they have created a menu that has a decent variety of soup, appetizers, hot dishes, and mouthwatering desserts! To start and get your appetite going, they have the Hot & Spicy Seafood & ABC Chicken Soup accompanied with an assortment of bread. Since i had a 1yo baby with me, he was so happy to indulge in the ABC Chicken Soup, so I would happily say that it's a baby-pleaser soup if you have smaller kids going on a trip with you.

If you're into fruits, then you’d definitely enjoy the rojak buah which you can customize according to your preferred fruits. Alternatively, I think I loved the fact that they have included Kerabu Pomelo into the spread and it just hits all the right spots in making sure my mouth would experience the sensation of flavors at the salad counter.

Look forward to the seafood bar as you can feast on chilled prawns and mussels! Around the corner, you can find the BBQ grill offering you some mouthwatering Portuguese Marinated Chicken Drumstick, Portuguese Grilled Fish, and Squids. Here I enjoyed the drumstick and squid the most! It had just the right amount of balance when it comes to spices. Who needs to go to Portuguese when you can get a taste of it at Ames Hotel's The Munch Restaurant.

Now, the highlight of the night would obviously be the main courses! You can look forward to Nyonya Style Fried Rice, Udang Masak Lemak Nenas, Ayam Pongteh, Daging Rendang Nyonya, Acar Awal, Kupang Goreng Chili Bawang, Ikan Siakap Chili Garam, Kailan dan Bawang Putih and Chicken Lasagna. It was really a lot to choose from, but if you're overwhelmed, I really enjoyed the Daging Rendang Nyonya, Ikan Siakap Chili Garam, and the Ayam Pongteh. It really tastes like authentic nyonya, and I can't lie that I had seconds on it just because it was so good!

Oh, did I mention that they also have live cooking stations as well? If you enjoy your food being hot and fresh from the stove, they'll be able to whip you up some Nyonya Laksa with Udang Galah, Chicken Lobak, and Otak Roll. The lobak and otak were definitely different than usual, so I would highly recommend you to get a bite of it while you're there.

What's a meal without desserts? Look forward to plenty of desserts at the dessert bar, but if you're looking for the full-on Nyonya experience, then indulge in the Nyonya Pineapple Tarts, Bubur Cha Cha, Cendol, Sago Bunga Telang, and Hot Chocolate Pudding. The kids will enjoy the dessert bar the most, but personally what I love about the whole dessert range would be that there is a controlled level of sweetness. It somehow tasted less sweet to not overwhelm your main course. Just the way I like it.

All in all, I would say the experience was satisfying! At RM98 nett per adult and RM60 nett for Childen & Senior Citizen, I personally would say that it was worth it. They had a decent spread of options and the menu was very authentic. You'll also get a taste of everything when it comes to Peranakan and BBQ food to hit your stomach in all the right spots.
