Academy Pastry Festival Malaysia 2017 | 16th December 2017

Academy Pastry Festival Malaysia 2017
The Academy of Pastry Arts Malaysia is all set to open its doors to the public on the 16th of December, hosting Malaysia’s first Academy Pastry Festival Malaysia 2017. The Festival will feature world-class pastries for sale, intricate hand-crafted sugar and chocolate sculptures, trial classes and Academy Alumni booths in which all proceeds will go towards the Academy of Pastry Arts Scholarship Fund.

From Left: Chef Chong Ko Wai, Xioly Koh, Chef Niklesh, Ms Sandra Jane and Chef Angelo.
A premier professional school, The Academy of Pastry Arts Malaysia houses a number of International Award-Winning Chefs and i can pretty much see why. They teach, and continue to hone their skills while churning out world class pastries on a weekly basis. That's pretty crazy stuff right there. "Many of the pastries created at The Academy are competition worthy and generally served only at fine-dining establishments”, says Chef Niklesh Sharma, Founder and Managing Director of the Academy of Pastry Arts.

“Our students are passionate, and cannot wait to showcase their learnings to all Malaysians. There is so much skill involved in creating these works of edible art. “All students will be involved, part-time as well as full timers who are at various stages of our signature 9-month Professional Advanced Diploma programme. We are also inviting some of our alumni to join us, in effort to support their businesses, and continue sharing our knowledge with them,” added Chef Sharma.

During the press conference, I even learned a few pastry vocabulary too! I didn't know that learning about pastry can be so defined. During the Pastry Festival Malaysia 2017, there will be sale booths inside the Academy’s kitchens allowing for guests to explore and experience a professionally equipped kitchen environment whilst shopping for pastries. Delectables such as the images attached in this post will also be available for purchase during the event, and believe me when I say that there will be more exquisite pastries available during the event day.

In the meantime, if you happen to be interested to learn how to prepare one of these fine pastries, you can participate in a trial class run by the Academy’s own award-winning chefs. Classes are limited, but those who secure a space will be indulged with a unique experience featuring the Academy’s teachings, and philosophy that emphasizes hands-on training. The Festival will also feature Academy Alumni booths manned by Xiaoly Koh, the owner of Xiao by Crustz, Frennee Sin, the owner of Le Clairé and Aaron Quay, the co-founder of Pretty On Plate.

Funds raised from the Festival will be channeled towards the Academy of Pastry Arts Scholarship Fund, which works closely with the “Shelter Home for Children”, based in Petaling Jaya. And this is why i believe its a great cause to support! I was lucky enough to get a taste of the pastries presented during the conference, and im amazed on the experiences and the texture of each pastry dancing in my mouth. hehe. If you would want to understand my foodgasm moment, why not plan your schedule ahead and make time to be there at the Pastry Festival Malaysia 2017!

To those of you who might be curious about Batiste Dry Shampoo, it's actually an innovative starch-based formulation that targets excess oil and grease at hair roots. My scalp type is usually pretty oily, thus being the reason that Batiste Dry Shampoo is a life savior to me. At times, ESPECIALLY during bad hair days, Batiste would be my solution as you can achieve great looking hair in 3 easy steps.

Best distance to spray: From 10-12 inches away from hair
HEADS UP! Its to be sprayed on dry hair, which means you can skip washing your hair. To achieve flawless flowy hair, first, you need to shake and spray a can of Batiste dry shampoo by separating your hair into sections. Also, take note that it's best if you spray into roots in quick short sprays holding the can 10-12 inches away from hair. Next, one you've gotten your scalp refreshed, give it a good massage to get the dry shampoo do what its suppose to do. And wallah, complete your look by brushing and styling your hair to achieve natural flowing hair. WHATS THERE NOT TO LOVE? <3

Start Strong with Dutch Lady PureFarm

The range of Dutch Lady PureFarm
Being a lifestyle blogger, i believe that its really important to make sure that i get sufficient nutrients daily, and i would highly recommend that everyone should be aware about your daily consumtion of nutrients. I understand that when having a busy lifestyle, it gets a little tricky when it comes to keeping a healthy balance diet, thus with Dutch Lady PureFarm im happy to say that with Ducth Lady PureFarm, it helps me keep my body going in terms of providing the right nutrients and at the same time keeps my body strong.

Ms Ashlee Ng giving a few insights on Dutch Lady PureFarm
Recently, Ducth lady PureFarm has a breakfast campaign where we had, Ashlee Ng, Marketing Director of Dutch Lady Malaysia highlighted the importance for Malaysian families to get sufficient essential nutrients from daily breakfast to help them start the day strong.

“Breakfast is the most important meal of the day as it is the first meal we eat after 8 to 12 hours from our last meal. Depriving our bodies of nutrients for as long as 12 hours means our brain lacks energy when we wake up. Our metabolism also needs food to kick-start itself into action,” said Ng.

Present at the event, we also had Professor Dr. Poh Bee Koon of Faculty of Health Sciences, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, who led the SEANUTS Malaysia survey also reported that a third of Malaysian children do not consume breakfast on a daily basis, which makes it all the more important that breakfast foods are selected wisely. Her team analysed seven popular breakfasts to see if they provide sufficient amounts of energy, protein, vitamins A, B2 and D, and calcium to meet 20 to 25% of recommended energy and nutrient intake for both adults and children.

We also had a very interesting chat on how Dutch Lady PureFarm helps to start our day!
According to Professor Poh, the study took cues from MyBreakfast Study of School Children to identify the most commonly consumed foods in the morning amongst Malaysian children, and the ingredients and portions of the breakfasts analysed were according to the Malaysian Dietary Guidelines. The seven commonly consumed Malaysian breakfasts analysed were nasi lemak, mee goreng, nasi goreng, roti canai, roti telur or French toast, sardines sandwich, and a combination of curry puff and two kuih.

I admit that the 7 commonly consumed Malaysian breakfast are commonly consumed by me (charged guilty!) However, when these breakfasts were consumed together with a 250ml serving of Dutch Lady PureFarm milk, the ideal 20 – 25% of daily nutrition intake could easily be met. Energy and all vitamins and mineral measured (vitamins A, B2, D and calcium) met the 20 – 25% daily RNI for adults and children. Who knew?

Dutch Lady PureFarm provides the essential nutrients you need
Did you know that Dutch Lady PureFarm milk contains the following essential nutrients to help give Malaysian families a strong start every morning? Listed below are some of the benefits of consuming Dutch Lady PureFarm:
  • Protein helps to build and repair tissue so that our muscles work in good condition;
  • Vitamin A allows our eyes to function properly and helps us stay focused and alert, both at school and at work;
  • Vitamin B2 supports the release of energy from carbohydrates, fats and proteins;
  • Vitamin D aids the absorption and utilization of calcium and phosphorus; and
  • Calcium is the key for the growth and development of strong bones and teeth for children, and helps adults maintain a healthy bone mass for an active lifestyle.

Have you gotten your cup of milk this morning?
Parents, friends, and families, be sure to add a glass of Dutch Lady PureFarm milk to your family’s breakfast and they will be ready to take on the day. Like they say, an apple a day keeps the doctor away and one glass in the morning every day gives you a stronger start!
