Interior Design Can Now Be Owned by All Malaysian

Despite being an architectural graduate who has gone through architorture for at least 5 years of my life, I've come to realize that I don't enjoy practicing it as a job, but I do enjoy sharing out opinions as a consultant. With that being said, I found this amazing book that would guide anyone easily to understand the concepts of designing without going through the long journey of what I've gone through back in the university days. Let me introduce you to your designing buddy the IDW Design Collection. 


A little introduction on how IDW came about would be that IDW or IDW Design & Build, was established in 2007 as a start-up business in interior and renovation company when both the founders were 21 years old. Young interior designers who graduated with a Diploma Studies in Interior Designers followed by a  Degree in Interior Architecture and ended with a Masters of Science Facilities Management. The company was offered an RM1.4 million project to renovate a bungalow, and at the age of 24 years old, both the founders received another bigger project that cost RM17 million and took only one year for completion. 

How i initially found out about IDW

Despite being very young in age, where usually people would have the stigma of claiming insufficient experiences due to age, the founders have proven to make their way to success through hard debt issues and were also scammed by contractors. Thanks to their high determination and persistence, they managed to still manage their IDW business, while pursuing their studies in Master of Science Facilities Management. Lokman Hakim, the IDW Board Director, faced great challenges but the founders then found their own love story and decided to get married in 2012, turning it into a family business.

In every story, there is always a tragedy faced, and for both founders, Lokman Hakim and Rabiatul Adawiyah, they tragically experienced a fire tragedy that had open their minds to create a stronger version of IDW's legacy. In 2017, the fire tragedy almost killed the founders and the family during their stay in New Zealand, and from that moment onwards, this gave them a push factor to educate and grow their team to be stronger than before to continue the IDW business legacy with the determination to help 1 million home property owners to get their dream home to be equipped with beauty and perfection. 

2020 & the COVID phenomenon

In 2020, Covid has shocked everyone whereby COVID-19 rapidly spreads throughout the world with its death announcement. With everyone having to face the total lockdown of staying home until the government announces otherwise, the founders of IDW were professionally prepared to face future challenges. Shifting their main focus, analysing every unpredicted challenges, means that they need to switch their gear to find the best attempt to be taken. Due to MCO, many homeowners felt they needed a better home for better comfort and happiness, which is where IDW found an opportunity to provide some solution for these homeowners who are seeking to make home a better place to work in (especially when we're all working from home). 

As a well-trusted interior desinger brand, IDW has succesfully design and build every home area to look luxurious in every project execution.
