The Phantom Of The Opera Live in Kuala Lumpur | Worth Every Penny!

Presenting The Phantom Of The Opera LIVE in Malaysia
Currently the biggest musical happening right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. The Phantom Of the Opera secretly has a special place in all our hearts and after their visit from Manila to Singapore, now they are performing live in Kuala Lumpur for the very first time to delight fans of Andrew Lloyd Webber's iconic Musical Masterpiece. The Phantom Of the Opera will be performing from the 15th of June till the 7th of July 2019, and tickets are selling like hotcakes!

The 'Masqurade' Scene
With a cast filled with musical enthusiasts, making their first step into Malaysia, the cast had a challenging task to adapt to a different environment, while delivering eight shows a week for three weeks in a foreign country. With the main stage actors being Jonathan Roxmouth as 'The Phantom", Meghan Picerno as Christine Daaé and Matt Leisy as Raoul, the show was a spectacular masterpiece that any enthusiast of performing arts would surely enjoy witnessing.

With Jonathan Roxmount, the actor behind the Phantom
Just before witnessing the show, I personally got the opportunity to catch the South African stage actor, Jonathan Roxmount, who shared his perspective on Malaysia by saying that 'Malaysia is humid, and that for any singer that helps. It keeps everything moist and lubricated". He also shared that 'This production is different. In that, it is brand spanking new. What you'll see is what you'll see in London and New York but the way it fits together is different. The technology used is the most current up to date state of the art technology'.

Some backstage visits on the props
The musical orchestra played live during the show
Going into a little sneak peek on what you can expect from the musical theater, the transitions of every scene is magical, and the production has taken the challenge to keep up with the entertainment industry by working very closely with the latest technology available without giving the audience any buffering experiences as the set changes to a different scene. Being able to witness all that in person, I would have to say that it's amazing how an audience can really gage with the performance instantly from when the show begins.

The romance scene where Christine and Raoul confess their love
Other than the show being located in a spectacular venue, Istana Budaya, Kuala Lumpur, The Phantom of The Opera also offers a performance filled with ballet, the arts of opera singers, classical acts and custom made costumes that were exclusively made for the production. Thus for tickets priced from RM200 onwards, you will be able to experience the whole London & New York Broadway experience in the comfort of your own country! You'll also be able to witness the dazzling replica of the Paris Opera House Chandelier which is 3 metres wide and weighs 308kgs.

The Story Line

The scene when the Phantom took Christine to his secret lair
The Phantom of The Opera is based on the classic novel Le Fantome de L'Opéra by Gaston Leroux which tells a tale of a disfigured musical genius known only as of the Phantom who haunts the depths of the Paris Opera House. Mesmerized by the talent and beauty of a young soprano, Christine, the Phantom lures her as his protégé and falls fiercely in love with her. Unaware of Christine's love for Raoul, the Phantoms obsession sets the scene for a dramatic turn of events where jealousy, madness, and passions collide. Presented by Lunchbox Productions, Base Entertainment Asia and TEG Dainty, it's a musical theatre that is not to be missed!

Personal thoughts on The Phantom Of The Opera

Watched The Phantom Of the Opera first-hand Ind i have to say that I am impressed!
Just a short review if youre looking to find out if the ticket price is worth it, well, as the title says, it's worth every penny with an astounding performance. With a combination of all sorts of backgrounds of the performing arts, it would surely impress even first-timers who has never witness the arts of musical theatre. Despite already watching the show, I actually wouldn't mind watching it again as the cast of the theater shares emotions that the audience can relate to. Other than that, if you've grown up with the literature, it would bring you memories of the classic novel as the theatre brings the story to life on stage for you ending the show with at least three calls by the audience. Really, really worth it!
